In 1949, Alexander McCurdy serving as consultant for Covenant Presbyterian
Church of Charlotte, North Carolina, recommended Aeolian-Skinner as the
builder of the finest organs in America, and the contract was signed for
Opus 1196. The IV/86 organ was
built in 1952 with tonal finishing by G Donald Harrison and first played
in 1953. Richard Peek played these pieces on the organ as it existed
in 1966. Included in the 12 page booklet are all of the original liner
notes, full organ specification, capsule biography, photo, and AGO tribute
from 1999. I have endeavored to keep the best organ sound from this private
label recording, and therefore there are a few artifacts from the age of
vinyl. Michael's
Music Service is the exclusive distributor of this recording. $12.00.
This Is A New Recording
