This
is the finest example of how perfectly organ and orchestra can blend together.
The Festival Orchestra plays alongside of
the oldest 3 manual organ in the US. The village of Round Lake, New York,
boasts an auditorium containing this unique instrument which incorporates
elements of the early Romantic era as well as the previous “classic” era
of organ building. The package contains beautiful photos, articles, and
specification. $14.00.
Stephen L Pinel
played the great organ in the Round Lake Auditorium, the
III/42 Richard Ferris
(1847) which was built for Calvary Episcopal Church in New York City then moved and installed in the auditorium by
Giles Beach (1888). Glenn E Soellner conducted the orchestra and organ at a
live concert from 1988. Pinel's playing and the sound of the organ takes
the listener back to the years when this music was conceived and enjoyed
by all. There are no screaming mixtures to intrude upon the blend; this music
and this sound is the reason that so many concert halls originally had organs
built into them from the beginning! Notice especially the Prout Concerto.
This CD is worth the price for this alone.
This CD is a required
recording for any organ and orchestra collector.
