Read the Winston-Salem Journal’s article about the newest organ concerto by Dan Locklair (Mars Hill alumnus) and other new music to be performed in Greensboro this coming Wednesday, June 29. This is part of the Region IV AGO Convention which has some significant musicians to boast as performers. Susan Bates will play Dan’s new concerto with Gerard Schwarz conducting; other pieces will include Robin Dinda’s “Organ Concerto No. 1” (with John Alexander), and Pamela Decker’s “El Tigre” (Edie Johnson); and Rachel Laurin’s Concerto in D for Organ, String Orchestra and Tympani (André Lash). Details for tickets are at 336- 272-0160.
It’s always good to see new music for the organ. Tell your AGO representatives that you approve of lots and lots of new music!
