Prelude in D, Sicilian Fantasy, Elmore’s Night Song, & Teddy Bears Go on a Picnic

Greetings, blog readers. I have restrained my love for marches in March this year and offer only one, but it’s really popular. Also, look for another in my attempts in gaining some attention for the music of Robert Elmore (composer of “Fantasy on Nursery Tunes”). You know, on a completely different note, all of this snow on the East Coast made me wish I had a good arrangement of “Let It Snow” to restore. <g>

ORGAN SHEET MUSIC
—————–
1. PRELUDE IN D, by George W Morgan. “Original Pieces for the Organ, for Church or Concert Use” is shown on the top of the cover of this collection. This piece was written in 1877 by Morgan who was the first organist to play Bach and Mendelssohn in the United States. It’s playable on any organ.

2. FANTAISIE de CONCERT sur “O Sanctissima,” by Friedrich Lux. You may have seen this piece in a reprint, in portrait orientation, but I will tell you that the page turns fall much better in its original size and orientation. The size is 13.5 x 10.5 inches. Many will also know this tune sung with “Lord, Dismiss Us With Thy Blessing.”

3. NIGHT SONG, by Robert Elmore. This is the first in a series of two compositions published by Fischer in 1940. I am pleased to offer a recording on the Spreckels Organ by Bob Plimpton, a student of Elmore.

4. THE TEDDY BEARS’ PICNIC, by John Bratton, arranged by Charles Cronham. Nearly every organist I know plays this with a piano score. Cronham’s organ arrangement is as good as it gets for this great march from 1907. If you’d like to play a pro’s arrangement (for pipe or electronic organ) of this fun little march, I recommend this one. On my page, I offer the first recording of the original instrumentation from 1908. “If you go down to the woods today, You’re sure of a big surprise.”

MONTHLY DISCOUNT BUNDLE. To get the four pieces mentioned above, I offer a special price so you can buy all of the pieces above with one click and save money in the deal. I welcome your support, and if you don’t want to play a particular piece in the group, consider giving it to a student or another organist.

One Response to Prelude in D, Sicilian Fantasy, Elmore’s Night Song, & Teddy Bears Go on a Picnic

  1. Albert Berry says:

Teddy Bears’ Picnic. That’s a lovely oldie. The 78 record we had was unfortunately a casualty during a move. The MP3 on your site is delightful!
