Christos Patterakis at the Legion of Honor’s E M Skinner

Steve Ketterer posted a video of his performance of Roy Perry’s Christos Patterakis on the wonderful E M Skinner at the Legion of Honor in San Francisco. It was a superb performance and the audience loved it! Here’s what he wrote:

I know many people enjoy following the outdoor organ in San Diego and the Atlantic City Midmer-Losh, but do you also know about a wonderful treasure we have here in San Francisco — the world’s only indoor/outdoor organ? It’s at the Legion of Honor, built by EM Skinner in 1925, and has been restored to perfect working order. I enjoyed playing a concert there last weekend and am attaching a clip of one piece that shows off everything from the quietest to the loudest registrations, along with many of the solo colors. Every seat was taken, with an additional 150 or so standing!

Superb performance of this lush confection…and on an organ with the tonal resources that Perry surely had in mind. How wonderful that the instrument is alive and well, played regularly by fine performers like Steve Ketterer, and appreciated by large audiences!

    Thanks!
