Peter Friedrich Julius André
(1808–1880) was an organist, composer, and prolific arranger. He was born in Offenbach, Germany, the fourth of fifteen
children of Johann Anton André. He was from a French Huguenot family and grandson of Johann Jean André, founder
of a music publishing firm in nearby Frankfurt-am-Main. Julius was a music student of Aloys Schmitt. He was employed in the
family music business and an organist in Frankfurt. In addition to his organ arrangements, Julius composed many organ pieces,
an organ method, vocal and piano music. Moderate.
