This Is Newly Printed Music
William John de Wolf Leavitt (1841-1893) studied in Europe, as did all organists of the time, and returned to become
a prolific recitalist in the Boston Music Hall where he played more than 800 recitals. Don’t let the title put you off; this march is
a concert piece with drama and lots of fun. Leavitt had a keen sense of humor as you will see in the column from The Boston
Sunday Globe (July 3, 1892) included with the music. In keeping with this, he composed a funeral
march for his own funeral! Moderately easy.
