Edwin H Lemare (1865-1934) is perhaps the best
known organist in the art of transcription. His Opus 164 is a composition for three-manual organ using two of the world’s most recognizable
Christmas tunes, “Joy to the World” and “Hark the Herald Angels Sing.” Joe Beyer contributed
a program where
Lemare played it as the final selection in Calvary Presbyterian Church, San Francisco, California, on January 6, 1930. Joe included a letter
from Lemare complimenting the Aeolian Company on the new Calvary organ and the dedication program by Marcel Dupré. Moderate.
