George Frideric Handel, born in Germany as Georg Friedrich Händel, emigrated to England in 1727 and is best known for operas (such as Serse and Semele), oratorios (such as Messiah and Israel in Egypt), and instrumental music (such as Water Music and Royal Fireworks Music).
