Johann Pachelbel lived and worked in Germany as an organist and composer. An interesting tidbit is that Johann Christoph Bach, J S Bach's older brother, was at one time Pachelbel's landlord. As a composer, he is known for his Canon, which is really a Passacaglia — variations over a bass line. The Fugue in C was typical of keyboard music at the time, being suitable for harpsichord, clavichord, or organ. It is mostly in three voices, symbolizing the Trinity.
