What Used To Be Played is a highly listenable compilation
of organ pieces that once were staples in most organists’ repertoires
but now are largely neglected and forgotten. These pieces were all available
in the United States of
America until a generation or two ago when composers were
unafraid to be programmatic and dramatic.
In A Monastery Garden by
Ketèlbey is the best known piece in the group and
this
organ arrangement is available from us.
Tastes in organ music change, but these melodious organ pieces once found favor
with a wide audience and deserve to be heard again. CD Download, $8.00, Selections $0.99.
This Is A New Recording
James
Flood made this recording in 2008 in the First Baptist Church
of Niagara Falls, New York, on the historic III/42 Hall organ (1939),
which he rebuilt and enlarged from 1988 to 1996. Booklet includes complete
specification.
