This Is Newly Printed Music
Henry Morton Dunham (1853-1929) began his college study as a motivated
organ student. Planning to study with Eugene Thayer at Boston Conservatory,
he travelled to Boston but found the doors locked. So, he walked across the
street to the New England Conservatory, liked what he found, and entered there
to study with George Whiting. This powerful organ sonata, which was dedicated
to George Chadwick, was a heroic first effort that any audience would appreciate.
Moderate to moderately difficult.
