Alfred Hollins (1865-1942), is probably best known for his A Trumpet Minuet (1929).
It was dedicated to Edwin H Lemare who included it in his “Recital Series of Original Organ Compositions.”
In his autobiography, A Blind Musician Looks Back, Hollins stated that while this piece was published in the Recital Series,
he considered it thus: “while perfectly suitable for recitals, it is more a church than a concert piece.” He performed
this piece on separate occasions for Widor and Guilmant while on a trip to Paris during the fall of 1896. Moderate.
