Edwin H Lemare (1865-1934) is perhaps
the best known organist in the art of transcription. “Alpine Dance,” his Opus 147, is one of four Lemare original
compositions published in 1925 while he was civic organist in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Its folk dance quality lends itself to
creative use of the flute and string stops. The piece is dedicated to John Roy Baylor (1851–1926), an educator who founded the
Baylor School, a college preparatory school in Chattanooga. Moderately easy.
