Jules Émile Frédéric Massenet (1842-1912) was a popular French composer known for his 25 operas. The instrumental “Meditation” from the opera ThaÏs, first performed in 1894, is the music between scenes originally written for solo violin and orchestral accompaniment.

Kenneth Walton (1904-1986) was born in London, England, and died in Virginia. He produced a perfect arrangement of this memorable melody. His arrangement doesn’t introduce anything extraneous, and his arrangement presents what your audience wants to hear without any extra material. Easy.
