This Is Newly Printed Music
Otto Emanuel Olsson (1879-1964)
was born in Stockholm, Sweden, and is known for his long tenure at the Gustav Vasa Church from 1907 until 1956. His Sonata may
remind you of those by Gustav Merkel by his love of counterpoint in a Late Romantic style. The first movement is often played alone for its many key changes and wide use of syncopation. The sonata is dedicated to Niels Otto Raasted (1888–1966), a student of Max Reger who was a composer and organist of Copenhagen Cathedral. Moderately difficult.
