The tunes in
Volume II are all from the movies and television. Rosa arranged these at different
times in her career. Some may be familiar and some obscure. Television’s “Dr. Kildare” is remembered
as a series but who remembers the theme? And does the movie “The Cardinal” bring to mind a famous melody?
As always, Rosa presents these tunes at their best, in impressive yet practical organ arrangements.
- The Bells of St. Mary’s
- Theme from “Dr. Kildare” (Three Stars Will Shine Tonight)
- Love Song from “Mutiny on the Bounty,”(Follow Me)
- Theme from “Caesar and Cleopatra”
- Shangri-La
- Theme from “The Cardinal”
- Theme from “How the West Was Won”
Rosa Rio lived for many years in Sun City Center, Florida, with her
husband Bill Yeoman before her death on May 13, 2010, but she was there at
the beginning of the theatre organ. She has been involved with show business
in so many forms throughout her career that arranging Broadway show music
is just another facet. Just to give you a brief idea of why her arrangements
demonstrate superb musicianship, great style, and practical keyboard techniques:
She was accompanying movies before there was such a thing as synchronized
dialogue! She has been making movie music “sing” through all of the years, and she
continues to play classic movies today to appreciative and packed houses. These arrangements are moderately easy and
will make you “sound like a pro.”
