This Is Newly Printed Music
Jeanne Shaffer (1925-2007) was a prolific composer of music in many
forms and media. She began in music by singing with the Paul Whiteman Orchestra
and finished as Professor of Music and Chair of Visual and Performing Arts
at Huntingdon College. This organ work was commissioned by Sam Batt Owens who
played the premiere performance in 1970 at St George’s Episcopal Church
in Nashville, Tennessee. Partita on Schmücke dich is moderately
easy.
