Firmin Swinnen (1885-1972), born in Belgium,
is best known for his involvement with the organs at the du Pont estate, Longwood Gardens. Swinnen was in the midst of his tenure as
organist at Longwood Gardens at the time of writing this suite. This programmatic music is dramatic and requires an orchestral organ for
best effect. Moderately difficult.
The first four measures give the impression of falling dewdrops, with an occasional breeze shaking the leaves. The original theme
is heard, little bells are heard, while the drops keep on falling. —Firmin Swinnen, April 21, 1927 |
